New Original


Wheels bolt on to the axel flange with 5 screws just like the real thing. Watch out for the torque of the screws. Too much torque will crack the wheels.

 

The right hand side is the original tire. The left is the new tire. The treads are the same, but the "Good Year" label and size marking is missing from the new tire. This is probably because of licensing issues. Tamiya had to pay lots of royalties to F1 teams to produce scale models of their cars. This probably falls under the same category.

 


 

 

 


The old one came with mechanical speed control. The spring on the return arm of the speed control is to eliminate freeplay.

The placement of the antenna on the new one is on the chassis. The old one had the antenna in the back of the car. A hole is drilled into the back hatch area of the body to accomodate the antenna to pass thru. The original body does not have the hole in the rear of the body.
